History of Valentine's Day Celebration

History of Valentine's Day Celebration

Every year, February 14 is celebrated as the day of love and romance in the memory of St. Valentine. On this day, we share and express our emotions by giving especially chosen gifts, greetings and flowers. The feeling of Valentine's Day fills us with unexpected joy and warmth. But do you know how, why and when it was started. Let explore the history of Valentine's Day to make it even more special and meaningful.

According to Catholic Church, there were three saints named Valentine who were martyred in the name of divine love.

Saint who perform secret marriages:

When Emperor Claudius II restricted marriages of young men because he believed single men perform better in military then those with wives and families, a saint named Valentine stood against this. He defied the outrageous law and continued performing secret marriages for young couples. When the secret was opened, he was imprisoned and killed.

First Valentine Greeting:

Another legend states that Roman emperors even after three hundred years after the death of Jesus Christ were forcing people to worship Roman gods. When a Christian priest named Valentine keep on practicing Christianity, he was put in prison.

There he did a miracle by giving sight to the blind daughter of the jailer. For following Christianity and doing the miracle, he was executed on February 14. The day before his death, he sent a farewell letter to the girl, signing it 'From Your Valentine'. It was the first valentine greeting, which set a tradition of sending greetings, love quotes and poems to the loved ones. Today, in America, more than 1 billion cards are sent every year on Valentine's Day.

Why February?

It was believed that St. Valentine was executed on February 14. To remember him and his teachings of love, Valentine's Day is celebrated on this date. Another story states that Roman people celebrate the harvest festival of Lupercalia, which was celebrated on February 15.

The festival was dedicated to Roman god of fertility and the founders of Roman Empire. Celebrating Valentine's Day on February 14 was the Christian effort of 'Christianizing' the pagan feast.

In the Middle Age, it was considered that the birds start mating from 14th February. So it was anyways related with love and romance.

Gifts

People not just use greetings but also acquire numerous gifts to express their emotions. While flowers, candies, chocolates, plush gifts and gift baskets are the regular gifts, many people even choose fine yellow gold sapphire rings, gemstone earrings, watches, holiday packages and many lavish presents to make it a treasured event of the year.

People also considered it as an auspicious day for engagement and wedding. Gradually, proposing on Valentine's Day is becoming a trend. Like Christmas and New Year, it is another significant day to create milestone moments.

Where to Spend the Chinese New Year in China

Where to Spend the Chinese New Year in China

Otherwise known as the Spring Festival in China, the Chinese New Year takes place at the end of January or beginning of February, depending on when the lunar calendar ends that year. The Spring Festival is one of the biggest events in the Chinese calendar and holds many customs and traditions that are carried out all over the country; here is a guide to the Chinese New Year and where best to spend it, should you be lucky enough to get to visit the country during the festivities.

The history

The Spring Festival is the longest event in the Chinese calendar, running for 15 days between the last day of the lunar calendar until the 15th of its first new month. Otherwise known as the Lantern Festival, it traditionally acts as an honour to the country's deities and ancestors.

A number of traditions are still carried out throughout the festival, including the giving of red envelopes to children by the elderly and married couples containing money, which are said to ward off evil for that child.

Beijing

The country's capital is one of the best places in the world to spend the Chinese holiday. Dragon and lion dances are performed throughout the city and people come together to feast on traditional cuisine. The Temple Fair also occurs in Beijing, when the city's temples and parks open their gates to carnivals and festivities.

Hong Kong

The fireworks during the Chinese New Year in Hong Kong are world renowned and celebrate a time for family; whilst many local families live apart due to work commitments, the Spring Festival brings them together in one huge celebration. Victoria Harbour usually provides the best display with one long, loud round of fireworks.

Shanghai

The Lantern Festival is the last day of the festivities and is best celebrated in Shanghai, where an endless view of coloured lanterns line the city accompanied by dancing, music and tasty treats. There is plenty of street food to enjoy, from grilled spicy squid to tangyuan - a traditional sweet of sticky sweet balls of rice flour.

The Great Wall of China

The country's most iconic landmark is always a popular destination during the Spring Festival and is often busy with visitors to China, as well as locals. There are many ways of getting to the Great Wall, and a number of touring operators include this trip as a part of their Chinese New Year tours, but there are also direct buses and trains to the prominent landmark.

This article was written by Thom Sanders, on behalf of Wendy Wu Tours, who are famed for their holidays to China. Guests get the chance to see a range of famous landmarks during their Great Wall of China tours.

How Video Conferencing Can Save Money for Business

How Video Conferencing Can Save Money for Business

Tecnnology has come along ways and can save the tech-savvy employers and their employees thousands of dollars to be used in other areas. Imagine hold a public meeting where you do not need to rent or book space hoping that no one else has already taken the time you are planning. Well folks, that time has come! One more thing, no one even has to leave the home once they get in from a busy day. Let me tell how how...

The answer is Google+ Hangouts and Hangouts On Air. Network marketers are already connecting with their teams from all over the world to build their unique businesses and share their tips. They are way ahead of most businesses and communities today. This technology allows you to meet with an audience anywhere and discuss issues, conduct meetings, and even conduct your business by connecting live with the other person where they are.

You no longer need a mileage and travel expense budget - just plan you class online. Advertise in the usual way via news media, invitation, advertisements - when people sign up and pay, just add their email to the invite list and when it is time for the class to begin - open up the link as the host about half hour before and allow the audience to gather and chat with one another while others join in. Their are two types of hangout - this would be the one on your right as you face the screen - they are not public to the world, these are by invite only - the private hangouts.

If you go to the left side of the screen and go to Hangouts On Air, these are public hangouts and are broadcast live so anyone in the world can join in. You can invite up to nine people to be on air live with you for no extra cost - up to fifteen and there is a minimal charge, but it is also recorded live to your YouTube Channel. People can view the broadcast live from that channel and add comments and questions during the meeting.

Say you are the chair of the Advisory Board meeting for the Town of Whoseville. The chair posts the meeting as usual, and notifies the members of the agenda - then opens up a new session public session under Google Hangouts on Air to conduct the meeting and allows his or her board members to join him live on stage with the audience on the YouTube channel. When the meeting is over, he can close the channel or just the session, and leave the communication over for the attendees on stage to chat with one another.

Google is a leader in today's technology, and they have fun doing it. Truly an example all businesses should follow. With this new communication tool meetings can be conducted from each members home computer and a gmail account and the viewers can watch and interact from the YouTube channel. It is a very impressive new technology, that I have tapped into and will share more tips on its use are I get acquainted with them in future articles.

Many are on Facebook, which I see as a social link to people and making connections never before possible with them where Google+ Hangouts seem to be centered more around connecting business and interests. The two together complement each other quite well.

In closing I recognize there is so much here that I have not yet explored and tapped into, as I do I will share my experiences and teach you what I learn in upcoming articles. Stay tuned for more.

The Benefits of Good Observation Skills

The Benefits of Good Observation Skills

As part of my training, one of my teachers had me spend an entire day doing nothing but observing from early morning to evening. I had to sit in a field all day long without moving my body -- he told me to just move my eyes very slowly from side to side.

What was I observing? What direction is the wind coming from? Does that cloud seem to contain any large amounts of moisture? Is it dark on the underside and light on top? If so, perhaps it's going to rain.

If you see birds flying, are they circling or going in a straight line? Are they water birds flying to where there might be some water? If you're looking for water, perhaps you should head in that direction.

There didn't have to be any particular significance to all the things I observed -- the point was not to let anything escape my awareness, to master the difference between looking and seeing.

When you see any kind of a movement, don't turn your head quickly, just move your eyes slowly to one side. If you turn your head too quickly the little animal or bird sitting on a tree limb is going to fly away. If you are motionless they feel that you are not harmful -- they accept you and come in close.

I discovered that the peripheral part of your viewing space can catch movement more readily than looking straight ahead. You also listen for the sounds of the area. Did you hear a cow? Did it have a bell, was it lowing? Did you hear a horse snort? If you can register in your mind all the sounds common to your area, you can immediately pick up on anything unusual.

You can also apply these observation skills in the city, where it may be even more important to stay alert. As you walk down the street, observe from one corner to the other side of the street. Is it safe? Are there any people or situations which look dangerous to you? Being aware of everything going on around you can save your life.

I went out to the field on my own many times because I felt I had missed things and wasn't satisfied with my own performance. My teacher didn't tell me to go back out -- he started me off but then I continued on my own every so often.

I used to go to the zoo and stare at the tigers. A tiger would look at me and I'd look back at him. I don't know how long I'd stand there, but I was determined not to look away first -- I kept looking until the tiger finally looked away. I guess the barrier between us gave me some kind of confidence but at the same time I felt I was making eye contact with a hostile animal -- he represented that to me. From there I'd go to a lion and do the same thing. I had a lot of fun doing that and no one could tell what I was doing, it just looked like I was standing there watching the animals.

Eventually I gave the tiger commands, not verbally, but in my mind. I would project the thought, "Turn away. Turn away right now. Turn." He was very stubborn but he would eventually turn and I kept doing it until the time it took him to turn away got shorter and shorter. I got training in using the power of my mind just like that. I did this on my own in my late twenties -- neither Dave nor Daniel suggested it.

We can apply observation to almost any walk of life. I used to teach salesmanship to handicapped people at Goodwill Industries. I would give them an orange and ask them to describe it to me and invariably all they would say was that it was orange in color and round.

"What else can you see on it?"

"That's about all."

"Your observation is very limited. You can tell where it had hung to a stem on the limb. You can even see the pores on the skin and certain streaks and discolorations. Learn to observe. What do you know about your product? What size is it? How heavy is it? What does it do? What is it's capacity?"

They thought they had seen all they could and yet as they kept trying they could come up with more. As time went on they were able to do a lot more selling and what helped me teach them was not going to a school for salesmanship. I learned just by observing out there in the country in Oklahoma and I taught them to do it, too.

If you don't think observation is all that hard, try to sit still for 20 minutes. If your nose itches, don't scratch it. If your leg cramps, don't stretch it. These are some of the things you have to contend with in observation. It's a far-reaching training that enables you to take in a whole situation in seconds.

After college I went into the army where I taught hand to hand combat -- how to maim a person, killing blows, how to disarm a person coming at you with a gun or knife. It was a fight for survival, a fight to kill.

All in all, I didn't feel too good about some of the things I had to teach, but when I made the vow to protect our country at all costs, it included that. Maybe with a gun it might have been different -- you're distanced from your victim -- but hand to hand didn't set too well with me so, even though I was good at it, I tried to find other ways to fit in.

Eventually I had the opportunity to apply for Intelligence and I went through a battery of tests until it was narrowed down to five of us. For our last test we were to have an interview with the General. We all sat in the outer office waiting for our turn to go in one by one. I was next to the last to go in.

"Tell me how many pieces of furniture in the outer office."

I told him right away.

"Where was the desk?"

I told him, as well as where the chair was.

"Anything on the desk other than paperwork?"

"Yes, there were some dried up dandelions in the pot on the right hand corner."

"Was there anything on the walls?"

"Yes, two pictures. One was of Washington and it needed straightening up, Sir."

"O.K. Next one."

That was our test -- whether we observed anything out there. I was the only one of that five to be chosen.

That is one of the great teachings I received from my training back in Oklahoma, being taught by a man that I don't believe went beyond seventh grade in school. He said, "It's one thing to live a long time -- it's another thing to learn something in that space of time. You've been given the gift of life -- don't just become an old man, learn something."

What Is Mexican Food

What Is Mexican Food

Mexican food is one of the rising cuisines in the world today. It has a variety of flavors and colorful garnishes that entices the taste buds.

In November of 2010 it was added by UNESCO as one of the world's intangible cultural heritages.

Many people think that a visit to a Mexican restaurant makes them a culinary expert on it.

But the truth is that there is a lot more than tacos and burritos. Real Mexican food comes from the soul of Mexico and its people.

The plethora of difference between the Tex Mex food and the authentic one is a mile.

The staples for Mexican cuisine are corns and beans. Masa is dough made of corn and it is used in making tamales, tortillas and goditas.

They also use rice as an accompaniment to many dishes. They also use squash and peppers in their cuisine for additional flavor, texture and color.

The usual herbs that they use in Mexican cuisine are chili, onion, oregano, cinnamon, garlic, cilantro, epazote and cocoa.

The best way to cook it is to have the staples mentioned above and get them as fresh as you can.

The freshness of the vegetables will definitely show in your dishes. Also makes sure that you tasted some authentic Mexican food already so you know the original taste rather than just getting the taste from a fusion restaurant.

Getting the right spices and blends is the key in achieving the great flavor of it.

If you want great tasting masa, then do it yourself. Remove corn kernels from the cob and boil it with some cal, which is a powder substance added to get the starch out of the corn, then let it cool and grind it and you have fresh masa.

If you wanted to taste the best mixture of Aztec culture and Spanish influence, then it is the best cuisine to represent that.

It is a luxurious blend of spices and flavors that represent Mexico not only food wise but culturally as well.

Here are some Mexican dishes that you can try: Tortas Ahogadas, Papadzules, Menudo, Empanada Dough, Beef Empanada Filling, Birria, Adobo Sauce, Traditional Mole, Tamalitos, Refried Beans, Chile Verde, Shredded Beef, Tamales, Chicken Enchiladas Suiza. And these are just to name a few of the delectable dishes of Mexico.

In the beginning, it is cooked in an open fire, which is still applied in some areas in Mexico.

Another technique that they use is the barbacoa, or steaming the meat on top of boiling water. Frying is also one of the cooking techniques used in Mexican cooking. It is used in taquitos, chimichangas, and flautas.

Tips to remember in cooking Mexican food

1. Make sure that you only get the freshest ingredients.

2. Some dishes require long cooking time like the Molé sauce for chicken Mole.

3. Make sure that you taste the authentic one first before cooking so that you can distinguish the flavors.

4. Keep on trying.

Remember that authentic Mexican Cuisine is the best way to taste the flavors or Mexico. Be inspired with these information and happy cooking!

Things You Need To Know About CT Scans

Things You Need To Know About CT Scans

If you watch hospital dramas or comedies such as Scrubs and House, you often hear Dr. Gregory House or Dr. Kelso to their respective patients to "take a full body scan or CT scan to identify tumors for diagnosis."

We would either laugh or react to it, but for those who haven't been discharged and checked in to a medical facility, we might be wondering what they're talking about.

A full scan can be understood through context clues, but what about a CT Scan?

There are various types of scans in medical facilities. A full scan is the method of scanning and screening a patient's entire body through scanning machine.

A full scanner is a device that captures an image of a patient's body, including its internal structures to search and detect possible malignancies.

A full scan provides doctors and patients alike a complete and detailed 3-dimensional visualization of the entire human body.

One of the more common full body scanners are a CT Scan, or Computed Tomography Scan. Closely identical to it is the CAT Scan, or Computed Axial Tomography Scan.

The keyword axial demonstrates the body scanner's ability to generate a 3-D image of the human body during the entire process, with each image called a slice.

CT Scan and other modes of scanning have the incredible ability to potentially dissect and detect diseases and other malignancies in its early stages, such as cancer cells. Early identification of such elements can help improve the probability of successfully curing such illnesses.

Therefore, CT Scan and scanning are an awesome tool for preventive screening.

However, CT Scans are quite controversial due to the amount of radiation the machine emits, which can be absorbed in high doses by the human body, risking the possibility of acquiring cancerous cells.

Due to high radiation exposure, doctors are weighing on the option if patient's body can outweigh the benefits of undergoing CT Scan than gaining more risks. Full scan techniques are also unable to detect the exact colors of the body's internal structure, unlike in colonoscopy, where you get a realistic view of how your insides exactly look like.

Fortunately, the technology made in CT Scans and full body scans allows doctors to get a detailed and clearer view of the body, which can uncover various malignancies in its benign stage, like infections or tissue defects, and polyps, an early stage in which a cell could potentially regress in our bodies, and develop into a cancer.

If you're opting for a partial scan instead of as a whole, doctors also allow patients to undergo MRI, or Magnetic Resonance Imaging. MRI machines offer less risk than CT Scans, since MRI's do not emit any radiation.

Instead, MRI examinations are based on magnetic and radio wave frequency signals that are visualized through the computer, and its gathered data is generated into a conclusive image of the body part.

Types of partial scans include the brain, heart, skeletal or bone density MRI, angiogram, pelvic, abdominal, and other body parts that are applicable for MRI evaluation.

Effective Localization Steps For Your Color Flyers

Effective Localization Steps For Your Color Flyers
By Janice Jenkins

Localizing your flyers for marketing is a very easy process. All you need is the right mix of elements to make sure that your local market will respond better and quicker to your localized color flyers. Let me describe for you all the best and effective localization steps that you can do for your flyers. Just read below and you will see all the professional steps that you can follow to get your flyers more "localized." Review them all and see if they are applicable to you.

1. "Size and shape" localization.

The first step is to "localize" the size of your flyers. While there are lots of standard flyer sizes to choose from, it is best for us to actually try to use the right size and shape that most other flyers use in your target areas. This is the first recommended step since you will know easily through direct proof what the size and shape works effective there.

You will be able to use the specific local distribution styles more effectively, and generally get a warm flyer reception since they will recognize your own flyers as their own type of flyers in the locale. Your flyers will be accepted and read first because of this.

2. "Text and Style" localization.

The next localization step is in terms of the text and style. It might be hard to imagine a bit, but you should realize that with different marketing environments, some text content and styles will work more than the others. This is because people still have different slang terms, colloquialisms and reading/writing styles in different locations.

The difference might be subtle but it is there through the use of words and style. You will want to use the same text and style in your location so that your flyers will "sound" or read more local, getting a better response from these prints. So make sure that you study the text content and writing style used by those target people in those target locations. The more you can match that style in your content, the more localized you can make your flyers.

3. "Model and image" localization.

In many types of marketing flyers, a picture of a model is used along with the image of the product or service being marketed. To make your images more localized like, you may want to choose that model very carefully. You will want readers to be able to identify themselves through those images.

So if you are marketing those products to business people for example, then your models should also be looking like business people as well for them to relate to your flyer designs. This localization helps you optimize those flyer images, getting more local readers to relate to and read those prints.

4. Environment localization.

Another kind of localization to think of is environment localization. Different distribution areas will have different environments of course. More specifically, they will have a different kind of situation or ambiance about them. This means that certain types of designs will be more appropriate than others.

For example, cheap looking flyers will not be appropriate for malls that have only high class expensive establishments. More expensive posh looking flyers on the other hand might be totally ignored by people if you give them out in a slum area. Make sure that you try to match the quality of your flyer with the environment so that it can be accepted as part of the environment and not be sunned as illustrated above.

5. Material localization.

Finally, you may want to consider some local material considerations. For example, the locale for distribution might have more risk of moisture for your flyers, or they might be prone to being blown away due to a constant wind. These factors must be taken into account to your flyer localization.

You can adapt and choose the right materials for your flyers so that they can survive those environments more readily. Localization then can come in the form of thicker paper for more weight so that they are not blown away quickly, or it can also come in the form of water resistant coatings to combat against that extra moisture. The more you adapt your flyers to these environments the more localized they will get.

Now study these options and try to apply them to your own flyers if you want them to be more localized for your distribution area.

Relationship Building Online Through Social Networking - Does It Work?

Relationship Building Online Through Social Networking - Does It Work?

In the sales industry there is still a big push towards closing a sale, and the traditional scripts and dialogues approach rather than genuinely connecting with people and building a lifetime relationship that leads to repeat and referral business.

My philosophy is that relationships are everything in life and business and there is no greater way or faster way to leverage your business than through relationships.

So where do we find people to meet and how can you fit it all in?

I love to network but I really dislike the word. It sounds so strategic. I believe it is nothing more than focused socialising. The definition of a network is: 'an interconnected system of things or people' and everyone should create a strong network to support his or her business. A good network should fill in the gaps where you yourself are perhaps not quite as strong and enhance and support your business.

Now times are changing rapidly and of course there is the traditional method of attending networking events which I do 2-3 times per week and nothing beats that face to face connection however from a time perspective it can take 2-3 hours out of your day to attend just one event. One of the latest trend is towards online networking which for introverts is especially welcomed as they don't need to meet anyone face to face. It also saves you time as you really only need to be spending 10-20 minutes every other day to maintain your presence and build relationships online.

There is still a fair amount of skepticism around whether you actually get results from online networks like twitter and Facebook. For me the answer is an emphatic yes. Personally I have generated work from contacts I have met through friends of friends and it has expanded my network. I believe one of the core benefits is that you are able to transition a relationship from business to personal which means you can forge a connection faster. For example people may share what they are up to on holidays or pictures of their family which allows you a window into their personal world.

Now there are many online sites out there the big 4 are considered to be

Facebook
Linked In
Twitter &
YouTube

They all serve different purposes and attract different demographics.

Facebook is by far the more personal site and if you were in the real world this is more like a family reunion. It allows you to share pictures and posts on what you are doing.

Linked In; Is more like attending a business networking event and certainly has a more professional feel. You can ask questions and get advise on business ideas, posts are generally related to what you are doing in the business world, what books your reading or links to information others would find of value.

Twitter is more like being at a huge party, with people having 10's of thousands of global followers. It is based around the question 'what are you doing right now' with answers restricted to 140 characters.

Now if you are getting started there are some faux pas to look out for.

The rules of the game are very similar to if you were in the real world. With twitter for example you follow people. Now you wouldn't turn up at a party and start following someone and not have a conversation with them or just stand behind them looking over their shoulder or immediately try to sell them something. You cant follow people on twitter and not interact. It is all about conversations.

The most important rule with social networking is don't sell! with any kind of networking it is not about money its about building relationships beyond the dollar, you get so many other benefits from these relationships but you must be patient. Remember people don't care what you do till they know who you are.

Now this can be difficult for some to understand at first. How do we get people to know us particularly with online networks as your not meeting face to face?

For me the key is being willing to be open and share parts of yourself. I have seen many people join Facebook and then load in 1 or 2 profile photos, now when I am on there I want to get to know them I want to see their family or dog or holiday photos and know what they have been up to otherwise why bother being on there. It can leave you feeling like their not sharing & the whole point of being on there is to connect and have conversations.

People want to get to know each other on a deeper level. Authenticity is said to be the new buzzword of the 21st century and its about people wanting something real from someone genuine. So be open. At the same time we don't want to know what you ate for breakfast. There is a fine line on sharing too much and appropriate sharing. You need to be careful that your not posting inappropriate images that a colleague, boss or client shouldn't be seeing. Once its out there on the internet it's out there forever.

The biggest challenge I see most people face with networking. Is they just don't give it a real go. They get online or turn up at an event and think...that didn't work I didn't meet anyone. When I first joined twitter I thought...is anyone listening or am I tweeting to myself. It takes time to get to know the rules of the game and build followers and get to know people. My advise is

Start slow & learn the rules (Google & webinars have great resources for starting out)
Don't get overwhelmed (there is a lot to learn at first so pick one site at a time)
Be consistent (allocate 10 minutes a day and start getting followers and uploading info)
Be persistent (don't give up, give it 6 -12 months

Pro And Cons Of Social Networking Sites

Pro And Cons Of Social Networking Sites

Have you been looking for love, but in all of the wrong places? Many singles are fed up with the traditional bar scene; therefore, many are looking for alternatives when it comes to meeting and possibly falling in love with someone. One of those alternatives is online dating.

Online dating has skyrocketed in popularity. Millions of Americans have turned to the internet in hopes of finding love.

If you are thinking about doing the same, you may be wondering if it is really worth it. To determine whether or not it is, you are advised to examine the advantages and disadvantages of online dating.

Before you can begin to examine the advantages and disadvantages of using your social networking website for dating, it is important to remember one thing.

There are two main types of social networking websites. The first type is often classified as traditional networking websites. These websites are websites that tend to have an open membership.

An open membership means that anyone can join them. The second type are known as specialty social networking websites. Specialty social networking websites tend to focus on a particular topic or interest, such as online dating.

One thing that you may not know about online dating and social networking is that they are almost always connected. When many individuals go in search for love online, many head to online dating websites.

Did you know that online dating websites are actually socially networking websites? What sets online dating websites apart from traditional social networking sites is that all of the individuals who are a part of the online community are looking to find love. In fact, that is one of the many advantages to using social networking websites, especially those with a focus on relationships.

When you join a traditional social networking site, one that allows all different types of internet users to join, it is often hard to tell what many are looking for. A large number of network users are looking for love, but many more are only looking for friendships. Online dating websites help to eliminate confusion and awkward moments, especially when approaching someone who is not interested in starting a relationship.

Another one of the many benefits to using online social networking sites to find a date is that you literally have an unlimited number of different choices. Social networking websites have expended overtime.

In fact, many networks have as many as a million members. This means that if you are looking for love online, there is a good chance that you can find a love interest online. In fact, you could probably find more than one!

Although social network dating has its advantages, there are disadvantages as well. One of the main disadvantages is the cost of using the networks service. As previously mentioned, online dating websites are the best type of social network to join, especially if you are looking for a romantic partner.

Unfortunately, unlike most traditional networking sites, most dating sites require a paid membership. To many this membership is worth the cost, but overtime it could get quite expensive and you are not guaranteed any results.

In addition to the cost of dating online, there are a large number of safety concerns that could be considered disadvantages as well. Unfortunately, the internet has made it easy for individuals to claim to be someone who they are not.

Essentially, this means that you could be starting an online relationship with someone who is not as they look in their photos or their personality is not as they described to you. While this will not only lead to disappointment when you find out, it could also lead to danger.

There have been numerous reports of instances where online dates resulted in abuse or murder; therefore, you are always urged to be careful and meet your dates in a safe, public place.

The above mentioned advantages and disadvantages of social networking dating are just a few of the many. One you have examined all of these advantages and disadvantages, you can compare the two.

If you find that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages then social networking and dating might be right for you.

The Affect Of Horror Movies On Children’s Psychology

The Affect Of Horror Movies On Children’s Psychology

The research which is made in relation to this issue shows that children (especially children age 5 and younger and toddlers) including and older children even teens and pre – teens face to the same consequences. In the most cases watching a scary movie can produce a serious case of anxiety. The usual symptoms are aggressiveness, sleeping disorder and self-endangerment.

But the most often symptom that appears while watching horror movies is shaking or trembling, sweating, crying or screaming, fever, chills and loss of appetite, upset stomach, clinging to a companion, fear of dying, dizziness or faintness, increased heart rate, feeling of unreality, shortness of breath and etc…

Among many children, appears the avoidance of real life situations that has been shown before in a fictional way on screen. They feel threatened facing those situations, situations that caused the original fear and they simply tend to avoid them as much as they can.

The appearance of obsession is also common. The subject after viewing the horror movie obsessively talks about the stimulus that produces fear, thinking that if he\she talks about the situations that make him\her fear he\she will release himself\herself and alienate from what he\she has seen.

Nightmares, we all have them after watching something that has scared us to death. Someone has them just one night and the others for longer. No matter how long they last, nightmares put us on a situation to feel again the same fear that we have felt before.

Many adults have learned from their experience to recognize the stimulus that scare them, and they avoid movies and TV shows that content them. Otherwise children still don’t know what their fear is or how it appears, that’s why we have to be very careful about what we are watching on our screens when they are next to us.

But it’s a fact that everyone loves a good scare now and then, we all want to test our rate of fear. That’s why horror video games became so popular and they are becoming more and more realistic. Our tip to you is enjoy and work out all you fears but be sure that your children are peacefully sleeping in their worm beds.

But horror movies are not the only ones that you must protect your children from, scary games are also something that may cause them the same effects as a full length horror movie. The scariest part is that these games can be found everywhere on the net. There is no need to say that these games contain a huge amount of gore and bloodbath, especially the torture games, the zombie games can give them all kinds of nightmares.

We all know that it’s not good when our children are overprotected, but still a little control now and then doesn’t hurt anyone.

World Cup - The Passion, the Pride

World Cup - The Passion, the Pride
By Knat Miller

The World Cup is a mammoth event that takes the world over every 4 years, and imparts passion and pride in each of the nations that take part in the event.

This time the 2010 World Cup is taking place in South Africa, the first time an African nation have ever had the honour of presenting the most watched sporting event in the world.

The pride and passion of the nations involved in the World Cup is only enhanced by the fans of each nation as they watch their nations football stars fight to win the cup and the title of world champions.

The 2010 World Cup has seen the meteoric rise of a new expressive form of support, the Vuvuzela, a distinctly sounding African trumpet that nearly every fan at this years tournament has and uses throughout a game to unique effect.

The Vuvuzela has proved so popular in these games that it is blown almost constantly throughout a match, which has even made some domestic viewers complain to their TV providers, asking for its ban. Love or hate the Vuvuzela, we cannot deny that it is a direct reflection of the passion and pride of fans as they watch the 2010 games.

The use of colour and dress has always been a major presence in World Cup's of the past and with such a colourful nation as South Africa hosting it, this presence has only increased, allowing each individual the right, even obligation to express their passion and pride for their nation's greatest in their own distinct way.

This liberation of passion and pride, and nationalism, could be said to promote racism or racist activities, but on the contrary, being proud and passionate about your country and showing the world the great aspects of your country actually brings people of all nations together, the World Cup is a massive showcase for this unity through diversity.

The World Cup is passion, and it is pride, a passion and pride that we can all enjoy and take part in. Enjoy it and have fun, together.

Severe Acne Treatment For Adults

Severe Acne Treatment For Adults

People who are suffering from severe acne has deep inflammation and they also suffer from extensive damage of skin that leads to scarring and they may need to look for severe acne treatment fast.

Acne treatment requires strict guidelines. If you do not know the correct methods to treat acne, you may be like others that took years to treat their acne with no results. However, if you are using the right approach in treating acne, you do not need to spend years to get rid of acne.

What most of the people do to try to cure their acne is to pay a visit to the dermatologist. What will normally happen is that the dermatologist will advise you to be on antibiotics or go for small surgery to drain out the big pimples.

However if your severe acne condition still did not improve after taking antibiotics, they will suggest you to take a very strong drug call isotretoin. However the drug comes with lots of side effect and it has been taken off the shelves in some market.

I am not an advocate of using drugs to treat acne and I will be talking about the 100% natural ways that I had used to get rid of my severe acne. The first tip for you would be you will need to ensure that your body have all the important vitamins and minerals.

Modern day diet consists of eating junk food or processed food which is stripped off of essential nutrients. This will lead to our body lacking in essential vitamins that will keep it strong to fight against acne by itself.

Try to supplement your diet with multivitamin tablets to ensure that your body receive enough nutrients. You can also take vitamin C and A as it is believed that these vitamins can help to improve your acne condition.

It is also advisable to try to alter your eating habit. As I had written in the above paragraphs, our current junk food diet do not have enough important vitamins for our body. Making some adjustments by substituting those junk food with natural food will keep your body immune system strong to fight against acne.

Acne creams in the market work by drying out your skin and damaging it in the process so I suggest that you change into using tea tree oil which is natural and 100% safe for your skin. Tea tree oil is a great natural product for treating acne due to its anti bacteria and anti-inflammation properties.

If you are thinking about visiting the dermatologist for advice on severe acne treatment, you may want to think again. Natural approach is the right way to follow to ensure that you can get rid of your acne fast and permanently. If you want to learn more about using natural ways to cure acne, visit my Acne Healing Blog to learn more.

How To Prepare For A Hurricane

How To Prepare For A Hurricane

When natural disasters strike, there is usually little to no warning. However, in the case of hurricanes, we are fortunate with today's technology to be able to predict when and where they will hit, as well as a host of other important factors like wind speed, rainfall, etc. While this doesn't offer much comfort to those in their path, it does help costal homeowners by giving them some time to prepare for the oncoming storm, and thus limit their losses as much as possible. With some advance planning and action on your part, you may be able to preserve some of your valuable possessions in the event a hurricane does hit in your area.

One of the most effective ways to protect your home from a hurricane is to cover all the openings. Doors and windows, including garage doors, should be completely covered using boards or plywood. Planning ahead is critical in saving time and money. Know the sizes of all your doors and windows, and have wood pre-cut and stored for quick application, when needed. If you don't have room to store window coverings, consider installing functional hurricane shutters for easily accessible protection.

It's also very important to evaluate your outdoor living spaces before a hurricane hits. Make sure that all furniture and equipment is moved to a secure place. Remove any items that could be picked up by the wind and turned into projectiles. You also may want to consider removing your mailbox from its post and bringing in any landscaping lights. While you're outside, take some time to also inspect your trees and shrubs. If there are any large limbs hanging over your home, it's better to remove them now than risk them falling in hurricane force winds.

Inside your home, you'll want to move furniture and breakables to interior rooms, preferably those without windows, if possible. If your home is in a low lying area, and ground flooding is a concern, try to put your furniture up on cinder blocks, if possible. As a last resort, extremely precious items can be transported to another location. If you do have the ability to move some items, be sure to also take important documents and any family heirlooms that are irreplaceable.

Before a hurricane hits, ensure that your vehicles are filled with gas and in good working order. Remember that if a mass evacuation is ordered, commodities like gasoline and windshield washing fluid could become scarce. If you do have to leave your home, make sure you take all insurance information with you, including your agent's phone number, claims reporting number, and your policy numbers. Advise your friends, neighbors, and family of your evacuation plans, making sure that they all know how to get ahold of you, if necessary.

With these steps and some good common sense, you will be very well prepared for the potential of a hurricane. For more information, visit government agency websites for specific instructions in the event of a storm. While no one ever wants a hurricane to reach their home, it is still a good idea to err on the side of caution and make sure you've prepared yourself in advance. At the very least, you'll have the peace of mind of knowing that you've limited your losses as much as possible and assured the safety of your loved ones.

Swine Flu Serious Symptoms

Swine Flu Serious Symptoms

Dr Keiji Fukuda, the Assistant Director-General of the World Health Organisation (WHO) at the press conference on July 7 2009 presented the latest reported figures from 137 countries, territories, and areas reporting confirmed laboratory cases as over 98,000, with over 440 deaths.

He stated that the swine flu pandemic continues to evolve quite rapidly with over 3,000 confirmed cases daily. In the Southern Hemisphere where they are in the winter months and entering their regular influenza season, they may see a pattern which is different from what is being seen in the Northern Hemisphere such as the United States and the UK.

Swine flu today"

Dr Fukuda stated that the Southern Hemisphere is seeing the same activity as in other countries. For example, Australia was reporting heavy swine flu activity in the Victoria area, whereas it was at lower levels in other parts of Australia for a while and is now picking up again.

Colds and flu share the same symptoms. However, the two viral infections are very different. The flu viral disease is a respiratory infection and usually occurs once a year or every few years, whereas most people catch a cold several times in a year.

In adults the serious symptoms of swine flu include:

* A fever over 100F and typically up to 105F.
* A hacking cough.
* Shortness of breath, wheezing and difficult breathing.
* Chest pain caused by persistent coughing.
* Confusion and dizziness.
* Muscle aches.
* Sore throat.
* Flu symptoms improve and then return with a high fever and a worse cough.

In children the serious signals include:

* Wheezing and difficulty in breathing with a hacking cough.
* Severe vomiting.
* A pasty complexion.
* Not drinking sufficient fluids.
* The flu symptoms improve as in the adult and the return with a high fever.

These are all warning signs to seek urgent medical attention without delay, certainly within two days, when Tamiflu is at its most effective.

The most common method for diagnosing the swine flu virus is an antigen test, which is carried out from swabs taken from the nose and throat for testing at the laboratory. If pneumonia is suspect then a chest X-ray will result.

The real scale of this health crisis is difficult to quantify, as constant random mutation is the name of the game for these bugs.

They have been around since the beginning of time and have developed their own ways of survival in their microbial world. It will not be long before they will survive our current chemical remedies for swine flu and even bird flu.

Complete Financial Planning

Complete Financial Planning

Financial planning encompasses a whole range of topics about money - budgeting, expenditure, debt, savings, mortgages, insurance and retirement. Working with a good budget is laying the groundwork for a strong financial foundation for yourself and your family, and the younger you are when you start, the better.

Everyone follows some kind of a budget, whether it is simply in their head or on paper. You know what your income is and you know what you spend. But sometimes you really don't realise just how much you are spending and how this could be changed to give you more money. It is possible to waste your money in ways that you wouldn't at first think of as wasteful.

It is only when you take a good, hard look at your expenditure and keep track of every cent you spend for at least a week that you may be able to realise just where all that money is going to.

Many people start at the end of their life and work backwards to find out what kind of budget they should have. That is, they work out what will be needed to live on at retirement, and then work out how much must be saved per week to achieve that goal. Others only get as far as a more short-term goal such as taking an overseas trip, or planning for their children's education. Whatever type of budgeting you do, unless you include every aspect of your life, it will not be adequate.

Once you have a comprehensive budget you will be able to see just where all that money is going to and you may then wish to channel it in other directions. This can be as simple as taking lunch and coffee to work instead of buying it. You can save upwards of $50 per week in this simple way - $2,450 at the end 49 weeks of work. Or maybe you could replace that soda with more healthy water and save an extra few dollars. Chips and lollies are treats that can be kept for special occasions instead of munching on them every day. You can save a small fortune over a lifetime in this way. You'll save on dental bills too.

Getting out of credit card debt is another important part of budgeting. With interest rates as high as 24% in some cases, this adds a great deal of extra money to your shopping bills. So, once you are on track with your budgeting and saving, you now need to make sure there is adequate insurance. Accidents and disasters don't always happen to the other person; sometimes it is you. Don't risk losing everything just because you didn't want to spare the money for insurance.
